How to use
Allegra (Fexofenadine) should be taken orally, usually twice a day. You can take this medication with or without food, but do not use it in combination with certain fruit juices (e.g. apple, grapefruit and orange) as they may decrease the absorption of these pills. If you are taking the rapidly dissolving tablets, do so on an emtpy stomach, and place them on your tongue until dissolved. Follow the instructions of your doctor exactly, even if they differ from the usually recommended dose.
Do not take Allegra (Fexofenadine) for several days before a scheduled allergy test, as the pills may affect the results of this test.
Overdose
A possible symptom of an Allegra (Fexofenadine) overdose is unusual drowsiness.
If you suspect you have taken too much of this medication, you should contact your local poison control center or the emergency medical services.
Missed dose
If you miss a dosage of Allegra (Fexofenadine), take it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next scheduled dose, just skip the missed dose and take the next one, then resume your usual schedule. Do not double up on this medication to make up for a missed dose.
Notes
Avoid taking antacids containing aluminium and magnesium 2 hours before and after taking Allegra (Fexofenadine), as they may decrease the absorption of this medication.
Do not share this medication with others, as they may have a condition that is not adequately treated with Allegra (Fexofenadine).
Storage
Store Allegra (Fexofenadine) at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) and away from light and moisture. KEEP THIS AND ALL MEDICATIONS OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

In unlikely cases, you may experience an allergic reaction to Allegra (Fexofenadine). Symptoms of a severe allergic reaction include:

Itching or swelling (especially of the face, tongue or throat)
Severe dizziness
Trouble breathing

Precautions
Before taking Allegra (Fexofenadine), tell your doctor if you suffer from any of the following:
Any allergies
Kidney diseases
Heart problems
If you suffer from any of the above conditions, you may not be able to take Allegra (Fexofenadine) or you may need a dosage adjustment.
This medication is excreted by the kidneys and elderly people often suffer from decreased kidney function. Therefore, caution is advised if Allegra (Fexofenadine) is taken by anyone in this age group.
Allegra (Fexofenadine) is classed as Pregnancy Category C by the FDA, which means it is not know whether this medication can be harmful to an unborn baby. Discuss the risks and benefits of using this medication with your doctor if you are currently pregnant or planning to become pregnant during treatment.
It is not known whether Allegra (Fexofenadine) passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before taking this medication if you are currently breastfeeding a nursing infant.
Drug Interactions
Before using Allegra (Fexofenadine), inform your doctor of all other medication you are currently using, including:
Antacids containing aluminum and magnesium
St. John's wort
Other medication containing antihistamines
